Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I work with a Financial Advisor?

Today's investors face hundreds of options that may not create the results they want. Most people struggle on their own, others rely on an accountant or stockbroker, but if you really want to create financial health, consider this:

  • Because Financial Advisors are not obligated to sell a certain kind of stock, bond, or insurance, we are free to recommend products and services that are right for you.
  • Financial Advisors do not have to carry a certain number of clients, which allows us to take the time needed to do a careful thorough job for you.
  • Financial Advisors are not required to place a certain amount of transactions, so there is no pressure on you to buy.

What can I expect in the initial consultation?

Your first meeting will be a relaxed, friendly, get acquainted session, in which your advisor will describe our firm's services. You may discuss your values, interests, health, income, dreams, fears, and family - all of which influence your investment strategy.

What should I bring to my first meeting?

We encourage you to bring recent statements of all your current investments - including your retirement plan, savings accounts, CDs, mutual funds, stocks, and bonds. If several members of your family have investments, please bring their statements as well.

BMS Financial Advisors offers complimentary subscriptions to financial newsletters, free financial seminars, and provides guest speakers at no charge to civic groups and organizations.

What does working with a Financial Advisor cost?

There are two aspects to what we do: the time spent researching your options and discussing them with you, and the time spent placing transactions on your behalf. Your initial meeting is complimentary, and we typically do not charge for follow-up meetings and phone calls. If you choose to become a client, your account may be either commission-based or fee-based.
